Scooby-Doo! Now You See Them… Review

***THIS REVIEW WAS ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED ON THE NERD BLITZ PATREON***

The 2nd of 3 special Anniversary themed Scooby reviews is coming your way.
After the first one was a rollercoaster of emotions, where will this one fall?
Let’s jump in and find out!

As you all know by now, this is your official ***SPOILER ALERT***

Art by Dario Brizuela: While the monster designs are cool and all, the stock art really drags it down yet again.
Thumbs down.

Story by Sholly Fisch: Scoob and the gang head to an alleged haunted lighthouse to investigate some strange goings on.
One by one the members of Mystery Inc. are being picked off by creepy fish monsters and scary sea Captains until Scooby is left on his own!

Well fuck me running, the editor of this 100 pager must have been sleeping the day they pumped this one out because this is basically the same story as “Snack Attacked“.
The gang made up a mystery to pull a fast one on Scooby and celebrate his birthday.
I know somebody must be thinking I’m taking this kid’s comic too seriously but what the fuck, man?
How the hell do you put stories back to back that are so similar like this?

This is the point where I start sounding like an old bastard, because in my day they put far more effort into this book.
Since DC relaunched their Scooby comics as Scooby-Doo Where Are You it has been a real clusterfuck and this is clearly symptomatic of that.
It’s so damn frustrating to be put through this, especially as WB is shitting the bed harder than ever and the future of Scooby is, at best, murky.

It’s not a bad story at all, I think I actually like this one better, but back to back with the other really takes the shine off it.
One of them should have gone in the monthly book and a fresh story should have taken it’s place or maybe put this as the 3rd new story with something to break the 2 up.
Either way, it’s such a bummer.
