Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary Black Series Figures

Hey guys, just wanted to drop a quick post and share the first images released by Hasbro for the upcoming Lucasfilm 50th Anniversary Black Series figures!

These were nowhere on my radar, and I’ve made no bones about my distaste for recent Hasbro figures so they’re not something I would’ve been particularly excited about anyway.

BUT

Seeing these pictures makes me want to rub slick on my disco stick!*

Check out the slideshow below

I especially LOVE the retro style Kenner Obi-Wan, the sculpt is absolutely chef’s kiss. Although I remain skeptical that the figures will look this detailed once they hit stores (they almost always look worse than the initial promo shots) I don’t think I’ve seen a 3.75″ figure ever capture Alec Guinness’ likeness so well.

The vintage carded Qui-Gonn is another standout. Again, they manage to capture Liam Neeson’s likeness so well.

That Obi-Wan may be the first Hasbro figure I’ve  picked up in close to 15 years!

  • I can’t bring myself to buy anymore figures after going nuts when the prequels came out! You could never have too many Darth Mauls, Green Cards, or Orange Cards!

    • Nope. I remember when C-3PO was super super rare for awhile. I would buy one anytime I ran into one like they were gold. Then a few months later they adjusted the figure counts per case and the stores were lousy with Leias and 3POs

  • Ah Yes! I also dabbled in 12 inch figures…they weren’t dolls damnit. All still in the boxes. I found a hairy Chewbacca! A JC Penny exclusive stormtrooper. Light background Obi Wan. My lord, one day I’m going to be rich!

    • Holy shit those first 12 inch figures from 95/96 were god awful. I had them all of course. Lol. Except the hairy Chewbacca. That one was too disturbing even for me. They got better by the time the prequels arrived. Then Hot Toys came along and Hasbro decided yeah we’re done here.
